Dato' Mohamad Hanafiah bin Haji Zakaria, D.P.M.T., A.S.A.

Dato' Mohamad Hanafiah Haji Zakaria is an experienced former Deputy Public Prosecutor / Senior Federal Counsel with a demonstrated history of working in the legal sector of the Malaysian government service with more than 39 years of experience. 

Dato' Hanafiah obtained his LL.B (Honours) Degree from Universiti Malaya.

Dato' Hanafiah has helmed various positions whilst in the Judicial and Legal Service of Malaysia such as the Solicitor General III of Malaysia, the Head of Appellate & Trials at the Attorney General's Chambers, the Deputy Head of Prosecution (Operation) at the Attorney General's Chambers and in the '80s as a Magistrate in the district of Kampar, Perak and the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur.

Prior to Dato' Hanafiah's retirement, he was the Director General of the Judicial and Legal Training Institute (ILKAP) under the Prime Minister's Department and was also a Board Member of Perbadanan Tabung Pendidikan Tinggi Malaysia (PTPTN) representing the Attorney General of Malaysia from 2018 - 2020.

Dato' Hanafiah was also a Member of the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) for the Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 disaster where he represented the Government of Malaysia.

Dato' Hanafiah was also involved in the task force meetings relating to the missing Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370.

Post-retirement, Dato' Hanafiah is currently an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya practising under the name and style of Messrs. Mohamad Hanafiah Zakaria.

Dato' Hanafiah is also a Life Member of the Judicial and Legal Service Officers' Association (JALSOA).
